Edit: I found this place on google and went because of the positive reviews. I went here for NYS inspection earlier this month- it took about 45 mins. Only thing I didn’t like was they told me my 3rd break light was out and wanted to charge me $40 to fix it (something my husband could’ve done for free with a $2 lightbulb) otherwise they wouldn’t pass my inspection. I asked to see it and they didn’t show me my break light out, they just showed me some black lightbulb they supposedly took out of my car. My regular mechanic in Brooklyn always shows me when something isn’t working right BEFORE they do anything. It was early in the morning so I didn’t really think about it- but I felt a little strong armed and I don’t think they did the right thing. Ended up getting got for $80 when I should’ve just paid $37 for the inspection. Only say this because I went for maintenance on my car the month before and I checked to see all my break lights were working. I feel that was pretty corny and desperate of them to try to get an extra $40 out of a new customer; not realizing they’re losing business that way. That’s why I either have my husband with me or get referrals bc auto mechanics always seem to try to take advantage of women. Edit: As per my review, I didn’t go there for a lightbulb change genius, I went there for an inspection! And you didn’t show me the light not working in my car, you showed me a random lightbulb after it was taken out. Again, not good practices. You better watch your mouth before you regret it later. Only a guilty business owner sits here arguing negative reviews rather than trying to rectify to ensure customer satisfaction. Not very good customer service.
It’s always so interesting when people like you say things like, I can have my husband replace it for $2, instead of paying $40. You’re right you could have done that, he’s your husband that’s what we do…. But in a business the idea is to service customers who come looking for the specific services offered. I can make my own eggs for $1 at home but I choose to go to the Diner and have them made for $23. Im also aware that the establishment is there to make a small profit so they can continue to service others and pay their employees. Aside from that I did show you that the light was not working, then showed you the bulb when it was removed. What more would you like other than for us to have done it all for $2? I’m grateful for reviews like this because it shows other possible customers what we have to deal with in the world today. Believe me (or don’t) I wouldn’t “take you for $40, or 40,000. I’ve been servicing the north shore community of Staten Island proudly for 23 years, and will continue to do so with care and kindness. Lastly, please look at how many reviews are from women who are happy with our work and services. Nothing else needs to be said. Edit; I know you didnt come for the lightbulb. It is part of the inspection and thats what we did for you. Im not trying to screw anyone, what would be the gain? for $40 to lose a customer, it doesnt make sense and it isnt good business. I've been here for too long and have an honest reputation because I care so much for my customers. Honestly, only someone who would rather damage a small business goes on to leave multiple 1 star reviews instead of calling the place or discussing it at the time. I've been here for over over 2 decades and my reputation means a lot to me and being honest means the most. Therefore I do take these reviews seriously and would have loved to rectify it (and am still open to that) but I will not be bullied by someone trying to do damage by leaving reviews over $40. You should also know that slander is considered a crime and illegal and can be pursued in court should you continue this way. If you want to rectify this matter feel free to call the shop and we can look for a proper resolution.
